Ricmond, VA – A shooting at Shamrock Pub in Chesterfield County on Sunday night has left five people injured, and authorities are continuing to search for the suspect involved in the incident. The shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m. on January 26, when a dispute between two men escalated into violence.
According to Chesterfield County Police, the altercation began over a female patron at the bar. One of the men involved in the argument pulled out a weapon and fired at the other man, hitting four innocent bystanders in the process. The intended target is currently in stable condition at a nearby hospital but remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
Captain Randy Horowitz with the Chesterfield County Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division spoke with 8News on Monday afternoon, confirming the details of the incident. He expressed concern over the quick escalation of violence in the situation. “Unfortunately, people are far too quick to use physical force and weapons to solve problems,” he stated. “We encourage everyone to use your words and, if not, you can walk away.”
The scene of the shooting, Shamrock Pub, remained closed on Monday as police continued their investigation. The pub is located in the Robious Hall Shopping Center, which also houses other businesses, including a laundromat where local resident Allisa Rogers spoke with 8News about the shocking event.
Rogers, who frequently visits the area for laundry, was unaware of the incident until she heard about it the following morning. “I am totally shocked,” she said. “It makes me a little uncomfortable. I would not have thought that that would even occur in this area.”
As of Monday afternoon, the suspect remained on the run, and investigators have asked anyone with information about the incident to contact the Chesterfield County Police Department at 804-748-1251. Police have emphasized that, despite the ongoing search for the suspect, there is no immediate threat to the public.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and authorities are working to gather more information to bring the responsible party to justice.
