Bismarck, North Dakota – The winterkill of fish in North Dakota lakes is forecast to be higher than average, according to fisheries biologists.
The lakes in this state are currently being evaluated by biologists in terms of the clarity of the water, the depth of the ice, the temperature, the conductivity, and the pH levels.
According to the findings of scientists, the quantity of snow and ice in the lakes has an effect on the winter kill rate.
The level of winterkill is something that officials say they will have a better grasp of by the third week of February at the latest.
