I-94 closed due to a truck fire near West Fargo

West Fargo, North Dakota – During the early hours of Friday, I-94 was briefly closed due to an engine fire on a Peterbilt truck that was heading west on the highway.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports that the truck’s 30-year-old Fargo driver observed the electrical and lights started to malfunction.

The driver pulled over to the right shoulder and realized that the engine was emitting a lot of smoke. He tried to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher, but he was unsuccessful.

Once the wind started spreading the fire’s flames across both lanes of I-94, I-94 was shut down for about 30 minutes until West Fargo Rural Fire came and put the fire out.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is still looking into the crash.
