Henrico County Police Arrest Suspect Following Sunday Evening Shooting Near Montrose Elementary

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — Henrico County Police responded to reports of a shooting outside a business parking lot near Montrose Elementary School on Sunday evening, June 1.

Officers arrived on the scene at approximately 8:36 p.m. and encountered a large crowd. They quickly secured the area and located an adult male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound. Authorities described the injury as non-life-threatening. The victim was treated on-site by Henrico Fire personnel.

Following the incident, police identified and located the suspect a few miles away. A traffic stop was conducted, leading to the arrest of 20-year-old Damion Latrey Khaalig of Henrico.

The Henrico County Police Department continues to investigate the shooting. Officials have urged anyone with information to come forward and contact the department at 804-501-5000.
