Hanover County Authorities Search for Mechanicsville Man Wanted for Attempted Murder

Richmond, VA – The Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for 61-year-old Keith Lamont Hubbard of Mechanicsville, who is wanted in connection with a violent domestic dispute that occurred on Sunday, Dec. 29. Authorities have issued a call for public assistance in locating Hubbard, who is facing charges of attempted murder and aggravated malicious wounding.

Deputies responded to the scene of the incident at approximately 5:42 p.m. on Kiwi Lane, where they discovered a 61-year-old woman suffering from severe injuries. The woman, whose identity has not been released, was immediately taken to a local hospital and underwent several surgeries overnight. While she is expected to recover, officials have stated that her injuries will result in permanent disfigurement.

Investigators have identified Hubbard as the primary suspect, but as of now, he remains at large. The sheriff’s office described Hubbard as a Black male, approximately 6 feet tall, weighing around 180 pounds. He is believed to be driving a dark grey 2016 Nissan Rogue with the license plate number UDD-3073, although authorities suggest he may have abandoned the vehicle.

“This is a rare occurrence for us,” said Sergeant Steve Wills of the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office. “These types of incidents are not something we typically see in our community. It’s a very disturbing situation.”

Hubbard’s involvement in the attack is not believed to have been random, with investigators confirming that it was a targeted, specific act of violence. Sheriff’s officials assured the public that they do not consider Hubbard to be a danger to the broader community at this time.

Joe Covington, a neighbor who has lived across the street from the incident’s location for much of his life, expressed his shock over the event. “It was unsettling to see the police blocking off the road, with multiple squad cars and yellow crime scene tape around the property. It’s not something you expect to happen so close to home,” Covington said.

Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings of Hubbard. They caution that if he is located, individuals should not attempt to approach him but should instead call 911 immediately.

As the investigation continues, Hubbard is facing charges of attempted murder and aggravated malicious wounding. Authorities are determined to apprehend him as soon as possible.
