Governor Glenn Youngkin issued a writ of election, calling a special election in the 9th Senate District for January 9, 2024

Richmond, VA – According to the state officials, the seat is currently held by The Honorable Frank Ruff, who will resign on January 9, 2024.

The last day for candidates to file is December 20, 2023.
