Former Louisa County High School Employee Arrested on Sexual Abuse of Animal Charges

LOUISA COUNTY, Va. — A former employee of Louisa County High School has been arrested and charged with three counts of sexual abuse of an animal following an investigation by the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office. Bailey Hobbs, 24, was arrested on Tuesday, April 22, and was released on bond two days later, on Thursday, April 24.

The arrest stems from a separate ongoing investigation which led detectives to a disturbing discovery involving Hobbs. According to the sheriff’s office, a search warrant was executed at a residence on Ellis Drive on April 14. During the search, several electronic devices were seized, including one that belonged to Hobbs. Investigators reportedly discovered illegal images on the device, though Detective Chuck Love clarified that the images did not involve child pornography.

“There was nothing located that indicated any kind of inappropriate behavior with a child,” Love stated in a press release. “Our investigation is not on those terms; it’s more so along the ‘crimes against nature’ terms at this point.”

Hobbs, who was employed as a part-time audio and sound technician for stage productions at Louisa County High School since September 2023, is no longer associated with the school division. Andrew Woolfolk, a spokesperson for Louisa County Public Schools (LCPS), confirmed that Hobbs has been severed from his position, though the exact date of his departure was not disclosed. The spokesperson also emphasized that Hobbs is prohibited from being on school property.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward. Detective Love highlighted the importance of public cooperation, stating, “When you find images, that doesn’t mean that there wasn’t other things that this individual may or may not have done. So we’re always interested to find out if anybody has any other information that they would like to pass on.”

Residents with relevant information are asked to contact the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office at 540-967-1234.

Hobbs’ next court appearance is scheduled for May 8.
