RICHMOND, Va. — A woman was shot and killed by her father Saturday morning in a Richmond apartment, police said.
Officers responded around 9:52 a.m. on May 31 to a report of an armed party in the 700 block of Harrison Street. Upon arrival, police found 55-year-old Alonzo Ellis holding both a firearm and a child, identified as his grandson.
Inside the apartment, officers discovered 22-year-old Alicia Ellis on the floor with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to court documents, Alonzo Ellis told police he shot his daughter following an argument. The incident occurred in front of the child.
Alonzo Ellis has been charged with shooting within an occupied dwelling and child neglect. Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.
