Richmond, VA – A man was killed in a tragic bicycle accident on Route 1 Tuesday evening, authorities reported. The crash occurred in the 16500 block of Jefferson Davis Highway at approximately 6:42 p.m. on December 31.
According to the Chesterfield County Police Department, officers arrived at the scene to find a man who had been thrown from his bicycle and was unresponsive. Despite efforts to render aid, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The vehicle involved in the crash remained at the scene, and the driver is fully cooperating with police. Investigators are currently working to piece together the circumstances surrounding the collision.
