Family of Richmond Woman Killed in SUV Accident Seeks Justice as Investigators Search for Answers

Richmond, VA – The family of 42-year-old Tomorrow Brooks, who was tragically killed in a hit-and-run incident along Midlothian Turnpike in October 2024, continues to seek justice as the investigation into her death remains ongoing.

On the morning of October 9, 2024, Richmond police responded to the 6300 block of Midlothian Turnpike at approximately 5:30 a.m. after reports of an unresponsive individual lying in the westbound lane. Upon arrival, officers discovered Brooks, who had been struck by an SUV while crossing the dark roadway. Tragically, Brooks was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have confirmed that the driver of the SUV remained at the scene, and no charges have been filed against them. However, the circumstances surrounding Brooks’ death have left many questions unanswered. Investigators suspect that two women, Jazmine Taylor (36) and Angelia Watson (29), who were reportedly with Brooks at the time of the incident, may hold crucial information about the events leading up to her death. Both women allegedly left the scene before police arrived, prompting authorities to issue a public appeal for information regarding their whereabouts.

The Richmond Police Department’s crash team has been actively working on the case but has yet to make significant progress. Brooks’ family, particularly her mother, Nieta Blount, remains frustrated and heartbroken over the lack of closure. In a recent interview, Blount pleaded for the public’s help in bringing her daughter’s case to a resolution.

“You would want justice for your loved one, too,” Blount said. “So [if] anybody can help us, please help us … come forward, please.”

Brooks’ family has expressed concern that the circumstances surrounding her death may involve more than just an accidental collision. Blount mentioned that her daughter had been involved in an altercation with a young woman prior to the incident, suggesting that there could be more to the story than authorities have uncovered so far.

Richmond police have not confirmed any connection between the altercation and the fatal accident, but the department is continuing to investigate all possible angles. The case remains classified as a death investigation rather than a homicide, with police emphasizing the need to gather as much information as possible to determine what transpired that fateful morning.

Brooks is survived by her children, grandchildren, and siblings, all of whom are grieving her loss. Blount, in an emotional plea, has asked for anyone with information to come forward, saying, “She had kids, she got grandkids. She got siblings. Come forward.”

Investigators are asking anyone who may have information regarding the whereabouts of Jazmine Taylor and Angelia Watson to contact Major Crimes Detective A. Darnell at 804-646-3927. Tips can be provided anonymously.

As the investigation continues, the community holds out hope for answers, while Brooks’ family remains steadfast in their pursuit of justice for their loved one.
