CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. – A fatal crash occurred on Monday evening, March 3, 2025, when a driver crashed their sedan into a power pole, resulting in the driver’s death.
At approximately 5:50 p.m., officers with the Chesterfield County Police Department responded to the scene in the 4700 block of Kingsland Road after receiving reports of a single-vehicle crash. When first responders arrived, they found that the driver had struck a power pole, causing it to snap and bring down nearby power lines.
The driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased, pending notification of their family.
According to police, speed is considered a factor in the crash, though further details are still under investigation. In the aftermath of the incident, Kingsland Road was closed in both directions while detectives and emergency crews worked to clear the scene. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) confirmed the road remained shut down well into the evening, with the closure lasting until at least 10:47 p.m.
Power outages affected residents in the area, though VDOT assured that service would be restored once the scene was cleared.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, and authorities have not released additional details at this time.
