Velva, North Dakota – The Velva location of the original Dot’s Pretzel plant will be shut down, according to The Hershey Company.
The business claims it had to make the “hard decision” to stop operations and close the facility because of the tiny size, physical constraints of the building, and costs related to the plant.
The 27 workers at the facility will be given the choice to relocate, according to Hershey, and those who choose not to will be given a severance package that includes a lump sum payment discounted healthcare coverage, and outplacement support.
Dot’s Pretzels was acquired by Hershey in November 2021 for $1.2 billion. Initially, Dot Henke produced a homemade snack to share with her loved ones, friends, and neighbors.
On October 27, the plant closes.
