Cyclist Left in Critical Condition After Rear-End Collision in Richmond

Richmond, Va. — A man is fighting for his life after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bike on Patterson Avenue Tuesday afternoon.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on March 11, the Richmond Police Department responded to a reported crash in the 4400 block of Patterson Avenue, involving a cyclist and a car. According to investigators, both the cyclist, an unidentified man, and the vehicle were traveling westbound on Patterson Avenue when the incident occurred.

The cyclist reportedly moved into the travel lane in front of the vehicle, at which point the car rear-ended him, causing the rider to be thrown from his bike. The impact left the man with severe injuries, and he was rushed to a local hospital where his condition was deemed life-threatening. As of the time of reporting, he remains hospitalized, receiving ongoing medical treatment.
