City of Richmond maintains safe water pressure despite major main break

RICHMOND, Va. — The City of Richmond successfully maintained safe water pressure overnight following a significant water main break at the intersection of 7th and Canal Streets, city officials reported Friday morning.

According to a 8:30 a.m. update on May 30 from the City of Richmond government, the Department of Public Utilities responded swiftly to the break, working in close coordination with neighboring Henrico County.

The joint effort led to the development of a plan to sustain proper water levels in Richmond’s storage tanks and ensure uninterrupted regional water service.

A temporary overnight repair was implemented to stabilize the situation. City officials confirmed that a permanent fix is scheduled for next week.
