RICHMOND, Va. — In response to severe weather conditions, all City of Richmond offices and the Richmond City Health District will close early on February 11, beginning at 2 p.m. Both locations will reopen the following day, February 12, on a delayed schedule at 10 a.m.
Due to the adverse weather, the City Health District has canceled all afternoon clinic appointments, including services at several key locations. Affected offices include the Richmond Community Hospital WIC Office, located at 1510 North 28th St., Suite 201, as well as Resource Centers at Whitcomb, Creighton, Fairfield, Gilpin, Hillside, Mosby, and Southwood.
Additionally, the Southside Plaza WIC Office, located at 509 East Southside Plaza, will remain closed for the afternoon. The City of Richmond has advised residents to visit rva.gov and monitor the city’s social media channels for updates on city operations.
In response to the inclement weather, the City of Richmond has also activated its emergency shelters. The primary shelter, located at 1900 Chamberlayne Avenue, will continue its operations based on current weather conditions. A secondary overflow shelter, at Marshall Plaza (900 E. Marshall Street), will remain open if needed to accommodate additional capacity. The Marshall Plaza site will serve as an overflow shelter and is not the primary location for single adult men and women, who are encouraged to seek shelter at the Chamberlayne Avenue site.
Meals will be provided at all shelter locations.
For medical emergencies, residents are urged to call 911. Individuals whose appointments or services have been affected by the schedule changes will be contacted by staff to reschedule at a later time.
The City of Richmond continues to monitor the situation and advises residents to take all necessary precautions to stay safe during the inclement weather.
