NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. — A Chesterfield County man faces multiple charges after leading law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit through several counties early Sunday morning.
According to the New Kent County Sheriff’s Office, deputies observed a vehicle traveling over 100 mph on Interstate 64 eastbound near mile marker 215, close to the Route 155 exit. Attempts to pull the driver over were unsuccessful, prompting a pursuit that extended beyond the interstate.
The chase continued along Eltham Road, through the Town of West Point, and into King and Queen County before ending in Gloucester County. The driver lost control and struck an embankment at the intersection of U.S. Highway 17 and Route 33. He then attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended after a brief foot chase.
Authorities identified the driver as 37-year-old Brent Worley of Chesterfield County. He was taken into custody without further incident with assistance from the Virginia State Police.
Worley has been charged with felony eluding law enforcement, reckless driving by speed, obstruction of justice, and driving on a revoked license. He is currently held at Pamunkey Regional Jail without bond.
A court date for Worley is scheduled later this week at New Kent County General District Court.
