Chesterfield County, VA — A woman shot her boyfriend early Monday morning in what authorities are calling an act of self-defense following a domestic dispute.
At approximately 1:00 a.m. on March 10, Chesterfield County Police responded to a 911 call from a woman claiming she shot her boyfriend after he assaulted and strangled her during an altercation. Officers arrived at the scene, located in the 6100 block of Heybridge Court, to find both the woman and her boyfriend, 46-year-old Adryan Whitted, with non-life-threatening injuries. Whitted had been shot, while the woman also had visible injuries.
The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, told police that she acted in self-defense after Whitted allegedly attacked her. Both individuals were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Investigators consulted with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, which reviewed the evidence and determined that the shooting appeared to be justifiable as an act of self-defense. At this time, no charges have been filed against the woman.
