Chad Olson, the mayor of Dilworth, outlines a new tax to pay for a new community center.

Fargo, North Dakota – To help pay for future development, the mayor of Dilworth is considering introducing a new tax.

“At our last meeting, the City of Dilworth began our own steps to initiate the process in Minnesota of a local option sales tax. In ten years, this section of Dilworth on the east side is going to include a community center that is a little bit broader in scope. It’s going to include recreational opportunities, wellness opportunities,” said Chad Olson.

In addition, Olson claims that in the center of the city, he envisions mixed-use structures with residential units on the higher floors and commercial units on the bottom.

At the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce’s annual State of the Cities luncheon on Thursday, Olson made the remarks.
