Richmond, VA – Bond was denied for one of the suspects involved in a deadly shooting that took place in the Brandermill area earlier this year. On Monday, December 30, Chesterfield Circuit Court held a hearing for 29-year-old Markice D. Street, who is facing charges related to the March 17 shooting that claimed the life of 22-year-old Barry O. Jordan.
The incident occurred in the early hours of that Sunday morning, when Chesterfield Police responded to a call reporting a shooting in the 13600 block of Northwich Drive. Upon arrival, officers found Jordan inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Following a detailed investigation, police arrested Street on April 11, 2024, in connection with the shooting. Lamont A. Jones, 26, of Petersburg, was also identified as a suspect. Jones was apprehended on July 17 by the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force in Alamance County, North Carolina.
Both men face several charges, including first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, shooting into an occupied motor vehicle, and five counts of shooting into an occupied building. Authorities believe that Jordan was acquainted with both Street and Jones prior to the incident.
Street’s bond was denied at the December 30 court hearing. His next appearance is scheduled for January 30, 2025. Jones’ next hearing is set for January 8, 2025.
The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
