FARGO – The search ended for an 80-year old Fargo man Tuesday afternoon at 3501 45th St. S. where police found the body of Robert McKinnon, in a new, unoccupied office building.
He had dementia and mobility issues and left a memory care unit at 45th St. and 36th Ave. S on October 1. Extensive ground and air searches were conducted in the search for McKinnon.
Police said while they had asked residents and businesses to check their property for any sign of McKinnon, they did not have the authority to go into privately-owned buildings. They said two K9 searches did not lead them to the building where McKinnon’s body was located. Police said there are no signs that a crime was a factor in McKinnon’s death.
Police first notified his family of the discovery, but decided to hold off releasing the information to the public to allow the family time to contact relatives.
