Bison Football Has Made The 2021 Spring FCS Playoff

NDSU has made the FCS playoff once again, only this time it’s in the spring season. The Bison finished the regular season with a record of 6-2, their first season with multiple losses since 2016. They are looking for a different result to the end of the season though, as that was the last time NDSU didn’t win the national championship (They lost in the semifinals to eventual national champion James Madison 27-17).

The Bison have a chip on their shoulder after last Saturday’s loss to South Dakota State 27-17 and losing The Dakota Marker in the process. Along with losing their second game of the spring NDSU was knocked out of being a top four team in the smaller 16 team playoff field (Normally 24 teams). Due to their strength of schedule in the regular season NDSU has been given a home game in the first round of the FCS playoff.

NDSU (6-2) will host Eastern Washington (5-1) on Saturday, April 24 at the Fargodome with kickoff set for 2:30 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN3. This weekend’s showdown will be a rematch of the 2018 National Championship game that NDSU prevailed in defeating Eastern Washington 38-24.

All eight of the FCS first round games will be played on Saturday, April 24 on ESPN3. Here are the times and matchups:

Monmouth (3-0) at 2 Sam Houston (6-0) 11 a.m.

VMI (6-1) at 3 James Madison (5-0) 1 p.m.
