RICHMOND, Va. — Three residents have been displaced following an apartment fire that occurred Tuesday evening in Richmond’s Southside.
According to the Richmond Fire Department, crews were dispatched shortly after 7:30 p.m. on April 22 to an apartment complex in the 1400 block of Clarkson Road after receiving reports of a fire. Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke billowing from a first-floor unit.
Photographs taken at the scene show heavy heat damage to one of the apartment’s front-facing windows, suggesting the intensity of the blaze. Fire officials confirmed that the fire originated in a bedroom located at the rear of the unit.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. However, the damage to the apartment rendered it uninhabitable, leaving three individuals without a home.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and remains under active investigation.
Emergency response crews remained on site for several hours to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and to assess the extent of the damage.
Officials have not yet released the names of those displaced.
