Richmond, VA – Per reports, Richmond Pollice Department officials recognized over 90 individuals for their outstanding work in five categories: De-escalation, Excellent Police Conduct, Unit Citation, Meritorious Police Conduct and Service to Law Enforcement.
RPD was proud to honor members of the community for their Service to Law Enforcement, such as Mark Smith of Midas of Richmond for his work in dramatically decreasing catalytic converter thefts.
Chesterfield County Police and the Virginia State Police were honored for a life-saving escort for a medical emergency during last year’s Richmond Marathon.
DMV Virginia Enforcement Office just was honored for contributions to the investigations into the towing company thefts of vehicles last year, to name a few.
Chief Rick Edwards appreciates all the stellar work – especially when it comes to De-escalation. Officers were recognized for calm, measured responses that ultimately led to safe outcomes when individuals were threatening to harm themselves or others in several incidents.
