VDOT is seeking feedback on potential concepts for two transportation studies to address safety and traffic issues for Route 17 between Denbigh Boulevard and Cook Road and at the intersection of Route 17 and Route 171 in York County

Richmond, VA – According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, one study is developing cost-effective, preferred improvements along Route 17 from Cook Road to Denbigh Boulevard with a focus on providing enhanced pedestrian, bicycle, and transit access as well as preserving vehicular capacity, transportation demand management, and safety improvements.

This survey presents several different concepts at four intersections in the study corridor and asks participants to rate each concept.

The other study is developing improvements at the intersection of Route 17 and Route 171, with a focus on cost-effective safety improvements and congestion.

This survey is intended to obtain public input on traffic congestion and corridor and intersection safety at the study location and on the alternatives under consideration to address these issues.

VDOT invites residents and travelers to learn more about each of the studies at VAProjectPipeline.org and take the online surveys through Friday, March 22.

Surveys were previously collected to identify needs and issues for the study for Route 17 between Denbigh Boulevard and Cook Road in September 2023.

Community input received through these additional surveys will help the study teams identify a preferred concept and determine whether to pursue future funding opportunities.
