Fargo, North Dakota – On Wednesday, a semi-truck load of food was delivered to the Great Plains Food Bank in Fargo. The 40,000 pounds of pasta, protein, and other products will give the neighborhood’s hungry residents a choice of food alternatives.
The donation was provided by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS). They claim that the church and volunteers did all of the food’s growing, processing, and delivery. The Great Plains Food Bank’s array of programs and services will use the donation right away to help feed those in need throughout North Dakota and Clay County, Minnesota.
According to Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake President Jerry Cook, “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believes everyone should have access to adequate food and nutrition and is anxious to help in this effort whenever possible.” “Partnering with organizations in local and international communities is frequently used to accomplish this. We are appreciative of the Great Plains Food Bank and Dorothy Day Food Pantry’s outstanding work in battling hunger in western Minnesota and North Dakota. We are pleased to contribute to their joint effort in this way.
The Great Plains Food Bank’s partner organization, the Dorothy Day Food Pantry, will receive another donation from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints this summer of about 40,000 pounds of food.
According to Great Plains Food Bank, one in six people in North Dakota are now affected by hunger, thus the donation comes at a crucial moment for many.
