Officials in Grand Forks start making plans for the spring floods

Grand Forks, North Dakota – Crews in Grand Forks are anticipated to start their spring flood activities in the next few days following numerous flood planning meetings over the past month.

Residents may discover clogged or frozen storm drains on their streets as the weather warms up. Call the Water Department at 701-746-2595 if you see a street flooded as a result of a frozen storm drain so they can fix the problem.

“We understand that there is still a lot of snow on the ground, but as the snow starts melting residents may have their sump pumps start running. Please make sure your sump pump is discharged outside and not into the sanitary sewer,” said John Bernstrom with the City of Grand Forks.

The Shadyridge/Adams Drive community, which is on the wet side of the flood protection system, will be the subject of a neighborhood meeting hosted by the City of Grand Forks. On Wednesday, April 12, at 5:30 p.m., a meeting will be held at Fire Station #5 on 47th Avenue South.
