Former North Dakota legislators oppose the book ban

Valley City, North Dakota – Two bills that would outlaw books are being debated in the legislature by two former North Dakota lawmakers.

During a meeting held on Tuesday at the Valley City Public Library, Larry Robinson and Phil Mueller spoke.

If the legislation is passed, according to Mueller, the First Amendment will be infringed. Robinson claims that under the current law, citizens might recommend books for prohibition.

In accordance with a Senate measure, exhibiting sexually explicit materials in public locations where minors congregate would constitute a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and a fine.
