City Commission rejects plans for a pedestrian bridge in downtown Fargo

Fargo, North Dakota – The projected Downtown Fargo Pedestrian Bridge appears to have reached a dead end in its twisting path.

Officials in Fargo now have to return federal money for the project that the Fargo City Commission rejected.

The $2.44 million grant was obtained by the city to build a pedestrian bridge in downtown Fargo that would have connected City Hall to the Red River’s riverfront. On Monday, city commissioners decided to halt that project.

Before a bridge is completed, the commissioners claim they want a plan for a plaza at that location.

There is currently no information available regarding the plaza’s timeline or potential design.
