North Dakota – Power outages are being reported in various parts of the state, most likely as a result of the winter storm that is engulfing North Dakota.
According to reports on several utility outage maps and the website PowerOutage.us as of 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, around 1,700 individuals are without electricity.
Rolette County: According to Northern Plains Electric Cooperative, 135 customers are reported to be without power across 7 townships (Fairview, Howell, Maryville, Monroe, Mount View, Mt. Pleasant, and Oxford). When the power will be restored is unknown.
Williams County: Surrounding 340 people are reported to be without power by Mountrail-Williams Electric Cooperative in the vicinity of Williston and in the northeast around Ray and Tioga. According to the company’s website, service is expected to be restored by 5:00 p.m.
“We are seeing outages caused by frost and ice on the lines along with high winds in the Tioga area,” the cooperative notes on its website. “Members are likely to see continued power blinks and outages as high winds continue. Our crews will continue restoration efforts as long as weather conditions allow.”
Emmons County: Around 180 individuals are reported to be without power in the Linton and Hazelton areas, according to Montana-Dakota Utilities’ outage map.
Hettinger County: Around 1,100 individuals are affected by power outages in the Hazelton, Mott, Regent, and New England areas, according to the Montana-Dakota Utilities outage map.
On Thursday morning, Capitol Electric Coop posted on its website that 284 customers were being affected by the loss of electricity in three Sheridan County locations. The reports were received on Thursday morning between 5:00 and 6:10.
The company noted on its Facebook page, “We are experiencing outages in the McClusky and Goodrich areas due to power supply issues on the Otter Tail transmission lines that feed those substations.” By Thursday afternoon, power had been restored to all but 6 customers.
