Schools in North Dakota affected by the national driver shortage

Bismarck, North Dakota – The nationwide lack of drivers is having an effect on the educational system in North Dakota.

As a result of the cost of training new drivers rising to between five and eight thousand dollars, school bus routes are being altered, put on hold, or eliminated in many parts of the state.

The shortage of drivers is having a disproportionately negative impact on rural school districts.

In order to save money on the substantial costs of training, some school districts are switching to using more compact buses with only 14 seats.
