Fargo, North Dakota – Churches United, a non-profit provider of social services with headquarters in Moorhead, is starting a $500k fundraising effort.
“I am so grateful every day for the generosity of our community. I know that our community understands the need and I believe that our community will support us so that we can continue to serve,” said Sue Koesterman, the agency’s CEO.
The fundraising effort is referred to by Koesterman as the “Community Challenge”. She is requesting that 5,000 people give $100 each to Church’s United. In addition to other things, the organization helps the hungry and the homeless find accommodation.
The funds earned through the campaign, according to Koesternman, would be used for administrative costs. She claims that there is “record demand” for their services. She claims that if the goal of half a million dollars is not met, the organization may have to make layoffs or maybe scale back services.
“If we are unable to meet this challenge, we may have to face some really difficult decisions,” said Koesternman.
