The Fargo Police Department to host Downtown Substation opening

Fargo, North Dakota – The Fargo Police Department (FPD) will be giving out candy to trick-or-treaters from four in the afternoon until six o’clock in the evening on Monday, October 31, 2022.

This event is being held in honor of the Grand Opening of the Downtown Substation, which is located at 511 4th Avenue North on the first floor of the Mercantile Building.

In the event that bad weather is expected, officers from the FPD will be stationed outside of the Substation, but they will go inside if necessary.

Although there will not be someone present at the Downtown Substation around the clock, it will be used frequently by cops during all shifts.

The Substation will serve as an additional base of operations for officers, allowing them to retain equipment like bikes, file reports, and engage with the community that resides in the downtown area.

This will allow the FPD to increase its presence in the downtown area. In addition to it, there will be a meeting room.

At the front entrance of the building, there will be a blue-lit emergency phone that is also equipped with a camera for monitoring and will connect callers directly to the Red River Regional Dispatch Center. This phone will be accessible around the clock.

The Fort Pierce Police Department is now collaborating with its downtown partners to install more lights phones and lighting signage that indicates the Downtown Substation will be installed at a later date.

Fargo Police Chief Dave Zibolski remarked, “We are excited about the completion of this project as it allows officers to be present in the downtown area on a more frequent basis regardless of their assignment. This substation represents another step in enhancing downtown safety for our residents and visitors to our city.”
