Cornelius local resident arrested and charged for stabbing to death woman in September’s incident, report

Cornelius, OR – The main suspect in the last month’s murder case is behind bars and is facing murder charges, police say.

According to the latest information by the local police department, the 33-year-old Jose Rodolpho Torres-Amaro was arrested and charged on Monday after he was released from hospital.

The fatal incident happened last month on September 11th when the authorities were dispatched at the scene near the intersection of North Davis Street and North 14th Avenue following a 911 call in regards to a domestic disturbance.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found Sonia Bahena’s dead body with multiple apparent stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies also found the 33-year-old Amaro at the scene who was also suffering life-threatening stab wounds and his condition was serious. He was immediately transferred to hospital for treatment. Luckily, the doctors were able to save her life.

He was treated in hospital for almost a month and he was finally released on Monday. Right after he was released from hospital, he was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

The police didn’t reveal who the suspect and the victim were connected and what was the motive for the stabbing. More details are expected to be released in the upcoming period.
