Charlottesville Woman Sentenced to Over 11 Years for Child Sexual Abuse Plot

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — A Charlottesville woman was sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison after conspiring to sexually abuse a child and distributing child sexual abuse material (CSAM), authorities announced.

Eleanor Hunton Hoppe, 46, was sentenced to 135 months following an investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice into her communications with an undercover law enforcement officer. The officer posed as a father who claimed to have an 8-year-old daughter.

Court documents reveal that beginning in late February 2023, Hoppe engaged in detailed online conversations on a fetish website where users exchange illegal materials. She described herself as a mother interested in discussing “taboo parenting” and expressed explicit intentions to sexually abuse the officer’s fictional daughter.

During the exchanges, Hoppe sent images and videos depicting child sexual abuse and discussed plans to travel to Virginia to carry out the abuse. In one message, she outlined a disturbing scenario to “wake [the child] up by trying new things” while she was in a “hazy/dreamlike state,” then “let her fall right back to sleep.”

Hoppe was arrested on March 16, 2023, at a hotel in Fauquier County after meeting the undercover officer. She admitted to her intentions and to distributing CSAM, claiming she did so to maintain communication with the officer.

A search of her vehicle uncovered items including a pink children’s bag containing lubricant, silk undergarments, and a pink silk robe, according to court records.
