NACA Hosts “Achieve the Dream” Event in Richmond, Offering Path to Affordable Homeownership

Richmond, Va. – The Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA) wrapped up its three-day “Achieve the Dream” event this weekend, offering aspiring homeowners a unique opportunity to take significant strides toward homeownership. Held from March 21 to March 23 at Virginia Union University, the event attracted a diverse group of attendees, all eager to overcome the financial hurdles that often block the path to owning a home.

The event, in partnership with the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA), provided a comprehensive approach to homebuying. From 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day, attendees participated in a series of workshops and counseling sessions aimed at simplifying the homeownership process.

One of the highlights of the event was the NACA’s one-day homeownership process workshop. This intensive workshop allowed participants to complete the four essential steps of homebuying in just a single day. The process included a homebuyer workshop, information and document uploads, one-on-one counseling sessions, and mortgage qualification.

Bruce Marks, CEO of NACA, explained the significance of such events for families struggling to enter the housing market. “Many families are left struggling to save for down payments or meet traditional lending criteria,” Marks said. “NACA’s Achieve the Dream event offers a game-changing solution, helping low- to moderate-income individuals and families obtain affordable homeownership — without the financial hurdles and other obstacles that often block the path to homeownership.”

This event was a part of NACA’s broader mission to provide an accessible path to homeownership for underserved communities, making it easier for individuals and families to purchase homes without the typical financial barriers. By eliminating down payment requirements, offering below-market interest rates, and providing hands-on assistance, NACA continues to be a key resource for people looking to navigate the complexities of the housing market.

As homeownership continues to remain out of reach for many, events like “Achieve the Dream” are a step forward in ensuring that affordable housing opportunities are accessible to all. The success of this weekend’s event will likely serve as a model for future initiatives aimed at breaking down the barriers to homeownership for low- to moderate-income families.
