Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Two Adults and Five Teenagers in Connection with Violent Robbery

Hanover County, VA – The Hanover County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two adults and five teenagers following a violent robbery that occurred on the evening of Saturday, March 1, in the 10000 block of Honey Meadows Road.

At approximately 10:34 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a robbery involving masked suspects. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the victim, a teenager, was physically assaulted by the suspects who stole several personal items. The victim suffered a laceration to the face requiring stitches and multiple bone fractures as a result of the attack.

Following an investigation, law enforcement identified two adult suspects—18-year-old Brian Michael Gibson Jr. and 19-year-old Duran William Bozkurt, both of Mechanicsville—and five juvenile suspects. The juveniles, whose identities have not been disclosed, are a mix of boys and girls. The Sheriff’s Office stated that the group lured the victim to the location and conspired to commit the robbery.

Both Gibson and Bozkurt face multiple charges, including brandishing a firearm, robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and conspiracy to use a firearm in the commission of a felony. Additionally, Gibson and one of the juveniles were charged with violating the prohibition on wearing masks in certain places.

The five juveniles have also been charged with the same offenses and have been taken to the Merrimac Juvenile Detention Center.

Sheriff David R. Hines expressed his pride in the Sheriff’s Office’s swift resolution of the case. “Once again, I am incredibly proud of the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office and their hard work to bring this case to a close in such a quick manner,” Sheriff Hines stated. “Regardless of the ages of those involved, there is no place for this behavior in our community. I would also like to thank the many residents and parents that provided valuable information during this investigation.”
