CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — A Chesterfield County resident and their dog are without a home following a kitchen fire that broke out Wednesday evening.
At approximately 7:30 p.m. on March 5, Chesterfield County Fire and EMS responded to a reported fire at a residence in the 10300 block of Hollyberry Drive. Upon arrival, crews found smoke billowing from the house, with the fire originating in the kitchen and quickly spreading to the attic and roof.
Firefighters worked swiftly to contain the blaze, bringing it under control in just over 30 minutes. One resident was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation but is expected to make a full recovery. Fortunately, the dog was rescued from the home unharmed.
The fire left the resident and their dog displaced, and they are currently receiving assistance from family members. Fire officials have confirmed that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of fire safety and preparedness in the home.
