Henrico County, Va. — The Henrico County Board of Supervisors has awarded a contract for the much-anticipated Wilder Middle School Stream Restoration project. The contract, valued at $665,147.69, was granted to KBS Earthworks, Inc. during the board’s meeting on Tuesday, February 11.
The project, set to begin in March, will focus on restoring 710 linear feet of an unnamed tributary of Upham Brook. Key elements of the restoration include the installation of in-stream structures, floodplain bench grading, and seeding and planting along the waterway.
According to the meeting agenda, the project is expected to be completed within 300 days. The restoration efforts are aimed at improving water quality and reducing flood risks in the area.
KBS Earthworks, Inc. was awarded the contract after submitting the lowest bid of $665,147.69. Other bids were submitted by Summit Environmental Services, LLC, at $944,631.10, and Environmental Quality Resources, LLC, at $1,117,356.80.
The final contract amount will be determined upon completion of the project, with payment based on the actual unit quantities authorized by the county, multiplied by the unit prices provided in the winning bid.
Funding for the project will come from the allocated project budget, as outlined in the meeting resolution.
This restoration effort marks an important step toward enhancing local environmental health and addressing flooding concerns in Henrico County.
