Bismarck, North Dakota – The conclusion of Catholic Schools Week has been signaled by the St. Mary’s Carnival for the previous seven scores and two years. The carnival games, cake walk, and, of course, the chance to win a goldfish were all part of this year’s iteration of the annual ritual.
More than 800 volunteers are required to put on the event from the time it begins setting up on Wednesday until the time it concludes on Sunday evening. The participation of the same families at the same booths year after year has become a custom for many families.
“You have individuals that have been working at the carnival for many, many years and then you have some this is their year, it is just a lot of smiles and a lot of fun,” said Pat Flanagan, event coordinator.
The carnival finished on Sunday at two in the afternoon.
