Richmond, Va. — A 2-year-old boy was injured in a shooting incident in Richmond’s Fan District on Tuesday evening, April 1. Authorities responded to the scene shortly after 9:15 p.m. following reports of a person shot in the 1900 block of West Main Street.
Upon arrival, officers learned that the child had been shot and was transported to a local hospital by his parents. The hospital subsequently notified the Richmond Department of Emergency Communications that the child had arrived for treatment. Police confirmed that the boy’s injuries, while serious, are not believed to be life-threatening.
Detectives investigating the case have determined that the shooting occurred at the location where the initial reports were made. However, Richmond Police have not disclosed further details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting.
